Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation
The Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation, a charitable organization raising funds to support the health care programs and services of Hamilton Health Sciences, has partnered with McMaster University to create two endowed chairs in child health.
The foundation contributed $1 million to establish the Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation / Jack Sinclair Chair in Neonatology. The research chair bolsters McMaster's position as a leader in intensive care neonatology, allowing more innovations and research discoveries to improve the quality of life of critically ill newborns.
Dr. Sinclair, a pioneer in the care and treatment of critically ill newborns, is professor emeritus of pediatrics. He is renowned for establishing neonatal intensive care in Hamilton and recognized internationally as an expert in evidence-based neonatology.
The Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation has also funded the McMaster Children's Hospital / Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation Chair in Neuromuscular Disorders. The $2 million endowed chair will advance treatment for people living with chronic diseases of the muscles, nerves and mitochondria through innovative research.
Hamilton Health Sciences is one of the largest academic health sciences centres in Ontario, covering four hospital sites with approximately 10,000 employees and 1,400 physicians. Through its partnership with McMaster University, HHS promotes continuous learning and improvements through innovative education and research.
